The Australian Military Administration in New Guinea continued to use the German colonial police in their intended role, albeit with new masters.
This constable wears a peakless cap with white drill crown and black band. No badge is evident.
The rest of his uniform consists of a darkish red sulu.
He retains his German equipment and arms. The former being the black leather waist belt and ammunition pouch, and the latter a 7.92mm Mauser Reichsgewehr 1888 with bayonet.
This is taken from a contemporary photograph.
Officers predominantly wore Australian Army items.
