The blue shirt and lap-lap lasted until 1964 when it was replaced by the pattern illustrated here.

This Constable wears a blue beret with the left side pulled down, as opposed to the military fashion of the right side down. The Constabulary badge is attached to the right front.

The light blue grey shirt has blue shoulder straps with the oval title attached. Around the left shoulder is a lanyard.

The waist belt is black leather with a RPNGC clasp.

Blue shorts are worn with hosetops, red flashes, blackened canvas gaiters and ankle boots. The flashes were used as a link to the trimming of the former uniform. The gaiters are Australian Army items.

Below is the cap and shirt worn by an Officer of the Constabulary. Of particular note are the shortened sleeves, blue necktie and Sam Browne belt.

Shorts are worn with long socks and shoes.
