The Motor Reserve were a grouping of motor enthusiasts you volunteered their services and vehicles to the Army. Their uniform followed standard British army patterns but not colours. Headdress – Green cloth peaked cap with dark green band and crown piping. The peak and chin strap were black leather. The unit badge was attached to the front of the band. Jacket – Standard pattern mess jacket of green material with dark green facing cloth on the open lapels, shoulder straps and pointed cuffs. The latter have a unit button in the apex of the point. The jacket has three buttons on the right side and a corresponding number of imitation buttonholes on the left. Halfway down the lapels were attached the unit badge. Standard rank badges were attached to the shoulder straps. Vest – Under the jacket was a dark green vest closed with four small unit buttons. Under this was a white shirt with detachable winged collar. Around the neck is a black tie. Legwear – Green overalls with thick dark green stripe down each side seam. Strapped under mess boots or shoes.
