The initial uniform of the Labour Company is a drill shirt and sulu, without any headdress.
Around the waist is worn a brown leather belt with brass clasp.
Company Officers wear drill service dress, like that worn by the British Army. This Lieutenant’s serge cap has a brown leather chinstrap. A dark khaki shirt and lighter necktie are worn with the drill jacket.
Over the jacket he carries a Sam Browne belt.
Drill breeches and serge puttees are worn with ankle boots.
Once in the UK the Company was issued serge 1903 pattern uniforms, the natives still avoiding headdress.
