Officer, Royal Nepalese Army, 1954
Nepal remained very influenced by the British and Indian armies after the Second World War. This Officer wears a uniform that would not have been out of place in both contemporary armies.
His serge peaked cap bears the army badge on the front of the cap band.
The uniform itself is the battledress introduced to the British Army in 1939, but with an open collar as adopted after the war. The only insignia is the regimental lanyard, and rank attached to the shoulder straps.
No belt is worn on what appears to be a general duty uniform. This is also illustrated by the wearing of trousers and shoes.
