Officers rarely wore the fez, using the fur kalpak instead, with its cloth top in arm of service colour. The latter was piped with gilt to show status.

The jacket shows a contemporary French influence in the chest braiding and epaulettes on the shoulders. However, the cuff detail is unique with a system of stripes in the cuff patch denoting rank.

The cross belt has pickers and chains attached, a traditional mounted embellishment. The breeches have the artillery’s traditional wide red stripe down the outer seams, and are tucked into riding boots.

Gloves and a sword complete the uniform.
