Police had patrolled the streets of Honolulu since Royal times with a system of sheriffs and constables, with the Americans forming the current Force in 1932. The Force was responsible for the whole of the Oahu island.

This constable wears a very American uniform, of course, with multi-peaked cap. The rest of the uniform consists of a shirt and trousers, in dark blue the almost standard colour of law enforcement in the US. The necktie is black.

He is armed with a revolver, which is holstered on the right hip, with spare rounds held in the loops on the belt. The belts were commonly used by American police from the 1930s.
