The pipes and drums of the Wellington Regiment was formed in the 1930s but left the regimental organisation in 1972 due to a lack of funding.

This Piper wears a plain Glengarry with cock’s feather plume attached to the side, under a square of black material. The unit badge was fixed to this square.

His jacket is an adaptation of the ‘blues’ uniform worn on parade by servicemen. Essentially the front skirts have been rounded to allow the unimpeded wearing of the sporran. The jacket is quite plain.

Over the left shoulder he carries a full plaid of Mackenzie tartan, to match his kilt. The plaid is held in place with a white metal brooch. Under the plaid can be seen a full set of piper’s belts with white metal buckles.

The sporran has two black ‘tails’ and a metal cantle to which is attached the band badge.

Black and red checked hose are worn with red flashes, white canvas gaiters and ankle boots.
