Like the Scots, the Irish enjoyed the martial music of the bagpipes, and formed bands to support their parades and so forth. This piper belongs to an Army band. He wears a black caubeen with saffron band. A feather is fixed behind the army badge on the right side.
His jacket is a version of the standard Army pattern, in dark green. It features cut away skirts, gauntlet cuffs and additional pocket buttons like the Scots.
His kilt is made from saffron material. The Irish did not wear a sporran over this.
The checked hose are in green and saffron, with green flashes tied below the turnover.
