Pipes were not the sole property of the Scottish bands, being used by the Irish regiments and by some northern English units. Headdress – Dark green caubeen with small green plume fixed behind the unit badge, which is attached to the left side. Jacket – A derivation of the Scottish doublet, this item has a rounded skirt and gauntlet cuffs. The jacket is green with black facing cloth on the collar and cuffs. The collar and shoulder straps were piped with white braid. The internal hip pockets have a three point flap. The jacket is closed with white metal buttons down the front. Legwear – Saffron kilt, a beaver skin sporran somewhat in the style of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, green long hose with a saffron check, saffron flashes and black leather brogues. Equipment – Black leather piper’s belts with white metal fittings.
