This Private wears standard Australian Army tropical field dress with several amendments.
He wears a jungle green cotton ‘beret’, like the GS cap of the war. No badge is attached.
His shirt has shortened sleeves and is tucked into shorts.
Over the shirt he carries newly introduced Australian webbing, taking over from 1937 pattern items, which were still to be seen in use. The 1937 basic pouch was larger and could hold more making it very popular with serving soldiers. Under the right pouch is carried a nylon green toggle rope.
No footwear is worn.
He is armed with a 7.62mm L1A1 Self loading rifle (SLR) and bayonet, which replaced the SMLE in the early 1960s.
