Give the location of the island, I presume troops of the Regiment were provided with summer items. Following the standard pattern these are shown here. Headdress – Undress Kilmarnock cap of dark blue cloth, with large cloth ball fixed to the crown. A small regimental badge may have been attached to the front. Jacket – White cloth hip jacket with no ornamentation. It is closed with unit brass buttons, an example of which is shown below. Legwear – Cloth trousers worn over ankle boots. Equipment – White leather cross belts that support a black leather ammunition pouch behind the right hip and bayonet scabbard behind the left. The brass plate at the front, where the belts cross, is embossed with the unit badge. Weapon – Cal 0.69in Land pattern musket, shown below. Alternatively the regiment may have been issued the percussion conversion of this venerable weapon, the Pattern 1839 musket.
