The Danube river is one of the busiest and longest in Europe, and as such needed defending. A navy element had been on the river since the 14th century. So it is no surprise that the land-locked Czech Republic raised a small navy to undertake this task.

This Sailor crews one of the small vessels that guarded and policed the river. His uniform is in a shade of khaki, like the Army, but with a maritime style. The headdress follows the pattern worn by the earlier Imperial AH Kriegsmarine with a brown cap band and black tails. The pea jacket is essentially an abbreviated, and handier, greatcoat, with an Army style jacket worn underneath.

Breeches are worn with sea boots.
