This seaman wears summer uniform with infantry equipment, to undertake a landing in a potentially hostile environment (both from the weather and 'natives').

His uniform is all white, following the international pattern for summer wear. The blue cap has a white cover over the crown, with the Imperial cockade attached to the front. As in other navies, the name of his vessel or base is embroidered in gilt around the black cap band or tally. Under the blouse he wears a striped shirt. Over the collar is another naval standard, a blue collar with three lines of white piping near the edge. Under this is a black neckerchief knotted in the Imperial manner.

His trousers are tucked into canvas gaiters.

For equipment he carries the current Army pattern of 'Y' strap supporting a waistbelt that has two ammunition pouches attached to the front. The bayonet is carried behind the left hip.

His rifle is an older M1886 Mannlicher type of 8mm calibre, which had been replaced by the M1895 model in the Army.
