The felt hat is worn with a flat brim and drill multi-fold puggaree.
In hotter conditions the light grey-blue shirt was worn in place of the jacket or pullover shirt. For junior ranks it was very plain, as shown. NCOs had breast pockets, whilst Officers wore a drill version of the NCOs pattern.
The shirt had dark metal buttons and a half opening. The shoulder straps were used to display company coloured loops. The different loops are shown and are as follows:
HQ - Dark green over black
‘A’ Company - Red
‘B’ Company – Blue
‘C’ Company – Yellow
‘D’ Company – Green
Support Company – White over black
Similarly coloured flashes were worn under the hose top turnover. The loops and flashes lasted until 1937 when their use was discontinued.
The equipment is 1915 pattern webbing, and the SMLE rifle and bayonet are carried.
Drill shorts are worn with khaki hose tops, short woollen puttees and ankle boots. A yellow Company flash is worn under the turn down.
