This junior officer wears a softer crowned kepi with a ring of gilt piping to reflect his rank. Over his standard tunic he wears a patrol jacket, again in the French style with rank shown by the enlarged Austrian knots on the sleeves. The jacket may not be lined with fur, but this decorates the collar, front opening, skirts and cuffs.

The trousers have a double red stripe down the outer seams, the distinction of an officer. The sword adds to the picture of an officer.
