The police in the Ottoman Empire looked at law enforcement in the cities and major towns, with smaller settlements and rural areas serviced by the Gendarmerie.

Headdress – Grey lambskin kalpack with red cloth top decorated with silver piping according to rank.

Jacket – Light blue grey material with red collar and cuff patches. Silver lace bars are fixed to the red shoulder straps.

Equipment – Plain white leather waist belt with buckle embossed with the Imperial Arms. Gloves are worn for parades.

Legwear – Plain dark blue trousers worn over ankle boots.

Weapon – Sword, probably more for show than as a deterrent to crime.
