This musician or bugler wears cold weather uniform of continental Portugal.

His low shako bears the parade plume and front cord in mixed red and white, the colours of the bands in the infantry.

His greatcoat has the same mixture of colours of the band on the wings. These are also worn on the jacket. The cuff decoration is also in these mixed colours.

Around his waist he carries a simple belt that supports the short sword worn by bandsmen in the Portuguese Infantry.

The uniform under the coat is, presumably, the standard infantry pattern with the mixed distinctions already described.
