With the permanent adoption of the sulu, the uniform of the Papuan ANC reached the standard maintained until 1964.

This junior NCO continues to wear the side cap, but within a couple of years it was left off the official uniform.

His jacket retains the red binding on the neck opening and sleeve ends. On the right sleeve is the single white tape chevron of his rank.

Around the waist is a cummerbund with brown leather belt worn over the top.

His wraparound sulu has red binding on the front opening.

He is armed with a 0.303in Martini Enfield Artillery carbine with bayonet.
